Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does Refinishing Last?

With routine care, your refinished surface should continue to look great for many years! Rapidcoat lasts 5-10 years with proper care.

How Long Does It Take?

An average bathtub should take about 3-5 hours to complete. This includes masking off the rest of the room, prepping the surface, repairing any damage, spraying on a new coating, and unmasking when we finish. Time varies based on the project of course. Whole bathroom jobs are usually a 2 day process.

Is There An Odor?

Refinishing a bathtub does create an odor. When we arrive, we set up a powerful exhaust fan in the bathroom and vent to a nearby window. While the refinishing is taking place, the smell is not noticeable. When we finish, there is a residual smell, which should dissipate in a few hours, and even faster with Rapidcoat.

Can You Refinish Fiberglass?

Of course, whether it is a multiple-piece surround and porcelain tub or a fiberglass tub with surround, we can repair any and all damage and make it look new again.

Can You Apply An Anti-Slip? (Non-Skid)

Yes, we can. If you wish, we can add a textured finish to any bathtub we refinish, the same day, or weeks down the line.

Can I use my bathmat when you're done?

If you use a bathmat, it cannot have suction cups. The use of a suction-cup mat will increase the chance of damage to the surface whenever it is removed. Use of this type of mat will void your warranty. We can apply a non-slip surface to the bottom of the bathtub which will negate the need for a bathmat. We sell bathmats that can be used with our product.

When can I use my bathtub/shower/sink again?

For Rapidcoat refinishing, it dries in 20 minutes and useable in just 4 hours! So you can take a shower or use your sink same-day.

What's The Warranty?

Rapidcoat has a 2 year warranty. The warranty covers any cracks, chips, or scratches that may happen in your bathtub or sink for that time period if you notify us within 14 days of it happening. We will have a technician come out for free to fix any problem you have.

Should I remove my showerhead, drain, etc?

Not typically! We mask off/ bag those areas off so we do not get our spray on them, or will remove them ourselves.

Should I finish other projects first? When should I schedule with you?

We suggest you bring us in last! Any other projects you are thinking of getting done, get those done first! We want all dust raising work to be done before us so that dust does not stick to the coating on your fixture. Especially if it’s a remodeling specific job, those jobs could damage any type of refinishing if done after our work.

Should I Clean My Tub First?

We do encourage it! It helps our technicians get the job done faster.

Do you regrout?

We do! We will regrout around the tubs and the tile as needed. This may have an extra fee added on to your project.

Aftercare/Warranty Information

Rapidcoat is exclusive to our company and made by us. You have selected the most durable refinishing and resurfacing system available in the country!

  • Please do not use this surface for 4-6 hours.

  • If you use a bathmat, it must not have suction cups. Use of a suction cup mat will increase the chance of damage to the surface whenever it is removed. Use of this type of mat will void your Warranty. We can apply a non-slip surface to the bottom of the bathtub which will negate the need for a bathmat.

  • The surface should be cleaned regularly. Any cleaning product that is safe for acrylic surfaces, such as Formula 409, Fantastik or Scrubbing Bubbles, used once a week, will keep the surface in like-new condition for years to come. Daily shower sprays should not be used.

  • Do not use any abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads on your new finish. Abrasives will scratch the surface.

  • Please note: All newly refinished surfaces will have some surface dust that will have settled into the new surface. Do not be alarmed; Because the surface is still within its long-term cure period, normal use and regular cleaning will remove all minor surface dust marks.

  • Do not leave shampoo bottles, soaps, or soap containers on the surface. The chemicals in some products can cause the surface to discolor within a short time. Use of a shower caddy or shelving system is recommended.

  • Do not drop sharp or heavy objects onto the surface, which may cause it to chip. Contact us for repairs if this should occur. Failure to do so within 14 days can result in further damage and will void your guarantee.

  • Damage to the surface may occur through the improper use of acid-bearing compounds, such as drain openers or grout cleaners. All harmful chemicals must be kept away from the refinished surface. These chemicals include but are not limited to: cosmetics, hair dyes, and perfumes, which may stain or otherwise mar the surface.

Remember, If you treat your new surface with respect, clean it regularly, and follow the above guidelines, your fixture will remain shiny and bright and give you years of trouble-free service.
